Project Name: HEARTH ASSISTED LIVING COURTYARD
Location: ROXBURY MASSACHUSETTS
Client: Hearth
Landscape Architect: Jessica Leete
Year Designed: 2012

Hearth is a non-profit dedicated to ending elder homelessness. Originally constructed as a school in 1920, in 2002 the property was redeveloped into a 43-unit facility that provides assisted living for citizens in need. It was one of the first assisted living homes in the city of Boston and is located near Dudley Square in Roxbury. The design integrates contemporary use of materials with the historic character of the site, the needs and desires of the residents, and addresses maintenance issues related to frequent flooding due to poor storm-water management in the area.
